You can now teleport by pressing spacebar. You can now look at the names of your enemies by pressing CTRL. Audioshield is a beat-em-up arcade game produced by Midway Games and launched by Mattel as the Atari Games version of the popular 1981 Atari 2600 game Pong.
Gameplay
The player controls the player space at the bottom of the screen and takes the role of the bat. Two yellow balls move up and down the screen (left and right) and through the player space, and bouncing against the wall on the right-hand side of the screen. One ball moves left and right when the player runs toward it. The balls bounce up to eight times (with increasing multipliers for four through six) for a score ranging from 4,000 to 10,000.
The ball then hits an opponent at a series of six targets along the screen, the first and second being batmen with a boxing glove and axe, the third a Chinese warrior, the fourth a boulder, the fifth a gauntlet, and the sixth a field marshal on horseback. As in Pong, the third set of targets is unlocked if the boxer remains hit even once, while the sixth set of targets is unlocked if the horseman remains hit even twice.
As noted, the object of the game is to swat the balls with one’s opponent. However, the player must do so without putting his own target in range of the opponent’s swats. If an opponent succeeds in hitting a target that the player failed to hit, then the player must repeat that target for a penalty. If the opponent misses a target and the player hits it, that target is filled with a marble.
The player wins the game by getting four hits in a row, in which case the marbles on all of the targets become stones. The player also earns a bonus for each point under 10,000 on the score display. Spent balls, however, fall to the bottom of the screen.
Boardwalk and Park
The objectives of the game is to swat the balls towards the player’s opponent three times. Each successful hit removes a marble from a target block. Only the opposing player’s target will be filled with a marble. One strike to the opponent’s target can also give that player a penalty. Successful hits will refill the pool, filling it with marbles. Hitting a blank spot on the board will count as a hit and use that pool of marbles to refill another target. The player who hits the most white balls is the winner of the game.
