[P3D P3Dv4] PMDG 747-400 QOTSII Base Package V3.00.8415 Latest Version

Let’s face it, the QOTS II just looks fantastic. The paint scheme is perfect. The interior layout is stunning, with the freighter models looking even better and closer to the real thing. The cabin is equipped with a great selection of simulated monitors for the captain, first officer and co-pilot, and it’s all fully compatible with FSX. Those who are flying in P3D, absolutely must take a look at this cockpit. If you’re flying in FSX, you must try the out the 747 in the QOTS II before getting stuck with the quandary of which to pick – the FSX or the PMDG!

Fan-lapping around the virtual skies is easy enough with the QOTS II, though you’ll be limited to the 747. There’s no flexibility to add and remove other aircraft types. As such, if you’re a fan of the Airbus A380, you won’t be able to fly that, or even other types of Boeing 747-300 or the smaller versions of the 747. This can be a point of frustration for some. However, for those who are real fans of the 747 and its little brother, the 747-200, you’re in luck. The PMDG 747 is perfect for both types of aircraft. This includes the 747-400, -200 and -200F. If you’re flying around in a 747-400, you’ll be limited to the older A/C layout, but if you’re flying in a 747-200, you can change to a Boeing layout. This is something that’s not allowed in the SR22, the 777 and the B737.

Apart from the fact that we’re stuck in the QOTS II, we actually get a few new features in addition to the great new paint scheme and interior, although as I say, there are limitations with the aircraft. For example, there are cockpit voice annunciators that are far inferior to the ones in the 777. In fact, these feel like they’re not even there! The Radio Comms are also a little klutzy, forgetting to announce that they’re on the frequency, even though FS2004 has no trouble with that. In fact, if you select the Call Sign for a VOR, you’ll receive no fault reporting. Yes, it’s a frustrating feature. There are far better radios on the list for the QOTS II that will only do one thing, the same as the 747-400 FCOMs. It’s a small point, but something that could be solved. Also, for those who fly the 747 in FSX, you won’t be able to use the passenger seat the same way you did in FS2004. In FSX the passenger seat can be configured as a chair, while the passenger seat in PMDG is an actual passenger seat. This is a really interesting feature, and makes the QOTS II the most enjoyable 747 for that method of travel.

The new PMDG 747-400 certainly looks the part. Its based on the current v4.0 of the Boeing’s on-line ‘a320neo’ or as the 777-200LR and -300R models. It still has a bit of the old school look to it, like its predecessor versions. The new model really accentuates the longer, more modern shape and the curved canards along the leading edges. The cockpits have been greatly improved and have increased in size and a small set of IFE screens has been added. Cockpit controls have also been revised. PMDG have managed to to integrate the 747’s very complex controls and instrumentation into the FSUIPC without compromising the flying experience. This is no easy task with such a large aircraft. There are over 350 flight control surfaces and 45 control horns. There are a total of 15 different kinds of panel mounted switches. Many control functions on the 747 are set into a Per-flight mode, this provides similar control feel and behaviour to that in the real aircraft. Despite the many complex controls and panels, it’s important that the joystick and throttle feel natural. It needs to feel like the controls have been designed and configured by the pilots of the real aircraft. In conclusion, I think it’s safe to say that this is a piece of work that has a whole lot of passion, and dedication to it. The 747-400 Queen of the Skies II, brings a really exciting new experience to free flight for a long time to come. What’s more, it’s a serious effort by a company who has a long history of hard work, and dedication to the aviation community. The PMDG team have really put some effort into making this truly an immersive experience. With more features being developed as time goes on, I’m sure that the 747 Queen of the Skies II will prove to be a very popular package. 5ec8ef588b
