Important info: I’ve loaded and tried these samples with three completely different iOS 10.2 mobile devices but it would be very hard for an on-line forum thread visitor to give any sort of guarantee (if you drop me a line, I’ll get back to you).

To be honest, it is exactly the same as the normal Sax app, but the pitch and tone settings are unknown. This makes it much harder to modify, allowing the app to actually be more accurate for IOS. Perhaps they will update this later. I know one other saxophone user looking for S/S (Italian) and you’ll see what I mean.

Rhythm/Harmony made it incredibly easy to import the samples into the app and do various mixing and splicing to get the best combination of groups of samples. This sax app is really clever, allowing you to quickly add a full section of the saxophone, trombone or baritone sax. If there are any bugs to correct, they show promise of taking over the whole product by the end of 2014. From a user’s view, it’s slick looking, well laid out and seems to offer a good variety of patterns.

I can see this becoming very popular for recording sessions at home, and with a good amount of editing & sequencing in Cubase it could give you a very good clean & shrill conversion of an entire 22 piece section of a recording or live recording.
It looks really good and as was said above, the sound is something not heard very often in full versions.

As far as the actual sound goes, you’re still going to need the right instrument, obviously. But I think it’s safe to say that randomly picking 20 and exporting a soprano section with a slight vibrato reverb could have some pretty amazing results if you apply it to the right song.

Also, if you are seeking ultimate accuracy, then you need to be able to do the same with the flute, piccolo, etc because that is what is being available in the documentation as the “normal” sample set. If you are using the “sensual” sample set, then you can change the high end of the flute to be as close to the real thing as you can get. If you set the high end too high, then you will hear an artificial peak, but if you set it too low, then the flute may not sound like a real flute.
