The traveller Sinbad and his companions enter the enchanted kingdom of the magician Al-Shamash. Sinbad is the winner of a contest to steal the magic lamp from the sorcerer and win gold and emeralds. The secrets of the lamp are discovered by Sinbad together with his companions.

The film saw release in the Soviet Union by Mosfilm in January 1953. It was distributed in the USA by Artkino Pictures with English subtitles later in 1953, and in 1962 was English-dubbed by Roger Corman’s The Filmgroup Inc. and distributed as The Magic Voyage of Sinbad.

The film was released on DVD in Russia by Kinorama in March 2001 and in Australia by Umbrella Entertainment in January 2002. The DVD was released as part of a DVD box set containing five other films on the same format by Kinorama.

The same picture was released in other languages. Electricité Japon (Japan,1953), named Marvelous Sinbad, and Fantasia-Cigane (Italy,1956), named Sinbad il Sub, were both dubbed versions/translations, with the Italian version being also called Dai-Lu-Szz…
