Seriously, I was underwhelmed by the Exileshows in LR5. It doesn’t display the layers in LR in the same way that PSE can, and since Photoshop is the only program I have that exports Exileshows it didn’t take long to get frustrated with the lack of control. I use LR since version 1.0 and trials with other non-LR programs have failed so I don’t see the point in expoiting my workflow and cookie jar.

I have only been using Lightroom 5 for a couple of days now, but from what I can tell its workflow and user experience are very, very similar to the lightroom editing aspects of Apple’s Aperture program. After upgrading to Lightroom 5 I can honestly say that I will switch to the Lightroom app on my iPad in preference to Aperture because I haven’t experienced any real issues with the Adobe program.

Lightroom 5 is basically a Web app. This means that when the designers or photographers submit their images, even if they are large and take a while to open, the designer or photographer can start working on edits immediately. He or she will have access to the whole image instead of having to load the asset in the same size that he or she has in Photoshop. This helps to speed up his or her workflow, since the images are available immediately. Nevertheless, the workflow isn’t changed.

If, say you’ve managed to get around the stability issues with this release (as we have the alpha versions) I’ve tried the new integration of the face in the title shot of most picture… I’m all for it, but it’s unclear how this is done as the new photos are just tagged and it looks like Photoshop is ‘pasting’ the faces in to the images by loading them from the face database. That doesn’t sound that clever.
