OCam V.366.0 Free 2017.rar OCam V.366.0 Free 2017.rarIzard Street Historic District (Salem, Oregon) The Izard Street Historic District is a residential neighborhood in southeast Salem, Oregon, United States. Izard Street was the first east-west arterial road leading to Salem, and many of the district’s houses were designed to accentuate the beauty of the surrounding woods and fields. From 1875 to 1920, an industrial economy fueled by the creation of a national market for chewing gum and the growth of the city’s shipyards expanded quickly. The residential nature of the area was soon eclipsed, however, as corporations and the growing commercial district of Chinatown began encircling the area with skyscrapers. The neighborhood now sits nearly entirely within the Salem Historic District. The Izard Street Historic District represents a cross-section of community life in the city during the 19th and early 20th century. The district includes approximately 30 contributing properties. The major building type is the single-story frame house, although Queen Anne, Second Empire, and Tudor Revival mansions can be found. Roughly half of the homes in the district were built between 1880 and 1920, and most of them occupy 3,000 to 5,000 square feet of land. The construction boom of the post-World War II era can also be seen in the development of the neighborhood. Four of the houses built here between 1946 and 1949 are constructed of brick. The neighborhood was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
