Cannot seem to get user-id of user who just signed in via social network login
I am trying to get a user-id of the user who just signed in via the social network login form, but I am not sure if this is a good approach to be tracking user-ids at all. Is there a better way to get the user-id of the current user logged in?

I am now querying the user_id based on the email address that a user entered into the social network login form. I am not sure if I should be doing it this way and wanted some feedback on it.

It depends what you’re trying to do.
If all you want is to know the user id of the current user logged in, do this:
$user = wp_get_current_user();
echo $user->ID;
If you want to know who logged in, do this:
$logged_in_user_id = wp_get_current_user()->ID;
$logged_in_user_email = $user->user_email;
