In one case, a young mother died as a result of a fentanyl overdose and medical staff told investigators they had administered four doses of naloxone, an opioid overdose reversal drug, after the mother had stopped breathing. She died a week later.

“The MO [medical examiner] concluded that fentanyl was likely the cause of death,” wrote the medical examiner’s office in the report on her case, adding, “This appears to be a fentanyl overdose.”
