The Develop module is completely redesigned for the latest version of Adobe’s flagship photo editing app. Adobe says it’s designed to make tools more visible and easy to use, and more in line with the way most people work in this day and age. The module has been split into three main sections: Input, Develop, and Output.

The Input module contains tools that let you easily import sources for editing, such as catalogs, Lightroom, or Photoshop images. The Output module, meanwhile, includes basic adjustment tools such as levels and curves, and quick-fix and other tools for image corrections.

The new input module is straightforward and easy to use for applying Lightroom image adjustments to raw files on the fly. New presets help you save and revisit those adjustments much more quickly than in previous versions. If, for instance, you want to convert all the raw files in a group to a preset to be applied to them all in one go, you’ll no longer have to do it manually.

The New Output module in Lightroom 5 lets you apply adjustments quickly. In previous versions of Lightroom, if you wanted to quickly remove a color from an image, you’d have to painstakingly apply an adjustment to each channel individually and hope nothing was off. In Lightroom 5, the Remove Color (which is not available in Lightroom 5.2) tool is much simpler and lets you remove an unwanted color and return the rest of the image to its previous state.
