BELOW: Using a sequence of masks, I transformed the Apple iPhone into a Mac-like shooter with multiple megapixels. I used a selection to remove the back side, then I duplicated two layers and masked one of them to be transparent, then masked the other to not show the back of the iPhone. I pulled an edge from the background layer below the iPhone, moved the free area to the back, and pasted it into place. I then cut a diagonal line with the Pen tool and deleted the small area in the upper left corner. I manually changed the skin tone of the subject to make it look less like an iPhone.

There are many ways to change colors. You can adjust the color itself using the eyedropper tool, create custom palettes using a Color Wheel, or you can simply open up the Color panel and choose a single color from the menu. While the Color panel is a great tool, there’s also a ton of other tools to practice with.
To add contrast to images, move the Hue slider to the left and right. If you paint a gradient along the top and bottom of one of your picture layers you can create a nice soft fade from one color to another.
As you change the strength of the gradient, you’ll notice changes in the color of the gradient. Next you need to replace the color with a new one. You can do this right from the Gradient tool by clicking Replace. You can also convert the gradient filling to a regular image by clicking Fill.
To change the opacity level of your current image, adjust the opacity slider or you can create a layer mask and then set the opacity of that layer to how opaque or transparent you’d like the image to appear.
While in Windows, the image can be opened by selecting the Open tab. Files can be saved in Adobe Photoshop’s native format, by selecting the Create a New File option. It’s possible to edit and save files in other image formats, like JPEG, TIFF, and PNG. Thus, you can use a format that’s completely compatible with the device or machine you’re using to achieve a more accurate representation of the original image.

The new Animation panel in Photoshop CC 2023 offers advanced tools for animating still images, too.
