Some version of this same movie was of course in theaters in Brazil, and as a matter of fact they originally had a “Producer’s Cut”. The interesting aspect of that cut was that they changed the ending so that it finally did make sense. However if you liked the “happy ending”, you only had to see the renovel of the movie, which was just as good as a happy ending. I liked the story, I just had some problems with the outcomes. The color palette was muted, and there wasn’t an overall story arc. The dialogue was sloppy and the acting was surprisingly bad (Lively and Durance were the best). I really felt like I was watching a Kids´ movie. On the plus side though, I think the making this movie was sorta a weird way for Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams to try to become a big movie. Looks like they fail miserably. The movie does have suspense though, and the effects were executed nicely, so best shot on the box for this one. My vote is 8.
This is far from a good movie. In some ways it reminds me of the movie Look Who’s Talking, where it is based upon a book. The acting is bland, often lethargic, and as if they knew they were in a horrible movie. I think the story was great, especially because of the characters, but this people was never scary. That is what you keep seeing in Hollywood: good stories ruined because the acting is not good. I suppose this was a step up from the other movie that had a similar premise, The Sixth Day, but that was in Spanish and they made that. Really, a great writer just gives a good script, because this is what the wolf encourages in others. That is, it is writing that is very well done. It is not a secret that is movie is terrible, it is on the box of the theater that is speaking to you, but you can’t hear it, for you are watching the movie.
