The new interface is a definite improvement to the well-known and used older one. Now, when I develop a new document I can open a blank canvas with the choice of layers, text, and other tools. I can even open a psd file. I set the text, backgrounds, and shapes and it gives me a canvas ready to be cut and pasted into a much larger image when I preview the document. It’s a very simple process. Now I can save as a jpg image, which is nice since I can then email the file to a client, and they can open the file and make whatever modifications and color adjustments they want. Adobe made some great improvements to the advanced editing features. The pattern cloud is very user friendly. The pattern page has Cut, Copy, Paste, and other basic editing tools similar to what we all have come accustom to on the click of a button. There are no borders around the cloud, and the shapes are adjustable. The “vapor filter” tools are pretty cool as well, and the grid editing tools are now even more powerful and you can even move around the objects easily.
Altogether, if you are a beginner in Photoshop, the learning curve should not be that high. That is because the most basic elements in Photoshop are easy to understand and the basic tools are very easy to use. Power users may prefer to use Photoshop using a tablet but this is not necessary. Photoshop is a very good experience either way. Of course, if you are a beginner your time investment with Photoshop may be higher. But your out-of-the-box experience should be very smooth. If you are new to Photoshop then you may have to learn how to use the keyboard, layer styles, and more.
In addition to the features you can use with the paid version, the Photoshop subscription also offers access to the service’s growing library of free app-based tutorials. Although the tutorials are free, it is still a major plus in terms of learning more about this powerful image editing software.
